Large Scientific Instrument
System architecture for an ultra fast active laser alignment on a moving target

nuclear fusion

Problem

A nuclear fusion startup came to us with a bold challenge: shoot tiny balls at 100m/s, capture their trajectory, and intercept them 10 meters away with hundreds of lasers, all of this multiple times per second.

Solution

Rather than defaulting to ultra-fast, ultra-expensive cameras, we dug deeper into the problem and designed an architecture achieving the same result with multiple simple, cost-effective sensors.

Result

Full feasibility report delivered in under 3 months, covering multiple architectures compared and ranked. The customer is now ready to move to small-scale testing.
